Gully Boy has been screened in India for press and industry. The first reviews are coming in on Thursday. While Bollywood has supported the film with full gusto, critics have also given Gully Boy rave reviews.

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy hit theatres on 14 February and is off to a promising start. According to trade analyst Komal Nahta, the film collected Rs 19.40 crore at the box office on day 1.

Well it looks like film has lived up to the overwhelming expectations as the first audiences had nothing but good things to say. The public loved Ranveer’s performance, his chemistry with Alia, the music, direction and the world of street rap.

After a series of special screenings of Gully Boy on Wednesday, the team had an impromptu after party at director Zoya Akhtar’s home in Mumbai. Present at the celebration were the leads Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. Deepika Padukone, Reema Kagti, Kiran Rao and Farhan Akhtar were also spotted at the Zoya’s place. Alia along with Ranbir Kapoor watched a screening of Gully Boy earlier that night, while Ranveer Singh caught his film with Deepika Padukone.

Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy has finally released and while critics have been singing praises of Ranveer Singh, who plays aspiring rapper Murad, it’s newcomer Siddhant Chaturvedi who has grabbed the audience’s attention. Siddhant plays MC Sher who introduces Murad to rap and mentors him as he tries to find his place in the scene — the Future to Ranveer’s B Rabbit, if you will.

The makers of Gully Boy hosted a few special screenings of the film on Wednesday in Mumbai that had the film industry flocking in to watch Zoya Akhtar’s latest creation. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were spotted arriving together for one of the screenings held in Mumbai’s Juhu suburb last night. Both Ranveer and Deepika’s families were also seen at the Gully Boy screening. Gully Boy has already got positive reviews post its premiere at the Berlin Film Festival last week.

With Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy creating a thriving fandom ahead of its release on Thursday, 14 February - it wouldn’t be too surprising if it swept in a grand opening at the box office.
According to film trade analyst Girish Johar, the Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer is expected to earn about Rs 15 crore on its opening day itself and will maintain a stronghold thereafter, through a positive word of mouth.
