1. ‘Dangal’ Beats Demonetisation In Week One With A Staggering Rs 274 Cr

Aamir Khan’s Dangal has knocked demonetisation out of the ring in just one week. According to the film’s producers, the wrestling drama has collected a staggering gross sum of Rs 274 Crore (approximately) in its first week at the theatres. The film fraternity has been nervous about business taking a hit ever since PM Modi announced the notes ban. But the Nitesh Tiwari film has proved that content is truly king.

On Thursday, 29 December (day 7), Dangal took home Rs 20.29 Crore amounting to a nett collection of Rs 197.53 Crore.

Trade analyst Taran Darsh confirms Dangal’s record breaking destruction at the box office.

With this kind of success in the first week itself, the Rs 300 Crore mark is hardly distant for the Aamir Khan starrer. 2016 has definitely ended on a high note for team Dangal.

Mira Rajput is all set to make her television debut with hubby Shahid Kapoor on Koffee With Karan this week and we’ve got a sneak peek into their love story, which bears an uncanny resemblance to the ‘arranged marriage’ scenario of Sooraj Barjatya’s Vivah.

Remember how the sanskari Prem (Shahid Kapoor) meets the demure Poonam (Amrita Rao) in Vivah? Well, Shahid and Mira also met under the watchful eyes of their parents, and respectfully asked them for a few private moments to get to know each other better.

Turns out that after their initial meeting in the presence of their elders, Shahid and Mira were encouraged to spend some quality time together at a friend’s farmhouse. Despite their varied backgrounds and upbringings, the two hit it off immediately and talked for seven long uninterrupted hours, the very first time they spoke.

3. Some Bit of Fiction Is Added: Aamir on Allegations by Coach Sondhi

Aamir Khan’s Dangal maybe smashing box-office records. But there has been one roadblock for the film. PR Sondhi, one of the five coaches of India’s women wrestling team during the 2010 Commonwealth Games, has alleged that he's been portrayed incorrectly in the movie.

Aamir Khan responded to the allegations when he spoke to ANI.

No, he was not actually locked up in the room. Like in every biopic, some bit of fiction is added but the spirit of the story of Mahavir, Geeta and Babita is intact. There may be a few incidents here and there which may not have happened exactly that way but in essence it is their story.
