Robert De Niro’s Secret Double Life in New ‘The Irishman’ Trailer
The film will be available on Netflix on 27 November.
Ahead of The Irishman’s release on Netflix, the streaming giant has dropped a new and final trailer of the film.
The the new trailer that has just dropped us give us a peek of what to expect when two different worlds collide. We are introduced to Robert De Niro’s character, as he mentally goes back in time and traces his journey into the underworld. His secret double life is one that causes his family much distress later. The new trailer is set against the backdrop of a politically charged America where people are busy campaigning for John F Kennedy as the US President.

Earlier, before the film’s premiere at the New York Film Festival, Netflix had released a trailer for Martin Scorsese’s latest gangster film The Irishman. Starring Scorsese’s muse Robert De Niro, the film is based on the book I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brand, and looks at the life of Frank Sheeran, a World War II veteran who became a mob hitman and allegedly played a role in the disappearance of labour union leader Jimmy Hoffa in 1975. The cast also features Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Ray Romano.
The trailer introduced us to Franks’ character, cutting between scenes with his lawyer and him on a job for the mob. It appears that he must make a choice to go ahead an execute the hit on Jimmy Hoffa after he declares war on big business and the government though the latter’s death is inevitable either way.
Ever since Netflix released a few promotional stills and an earlier teaser in August, there has been buzz about the technology being used to make Robert De Niro look younger in portions of The Irishman. Some have criticised the CGI saying that it looks unreal.
The film will get a limited theatrical release on 1 November and be available for streaming on Netflix from 27 November.
