PeeCee, Mindy Kaling Join Forces for a Comedy on Indian Weddings
The film will be set in America and India.
Indian-American comedian Mindy Kaling and Priyanka Chopra are collaborating on a yet untitled comedy focussed on Indian weddings, the rights of which have just been won by film production house Universal Pictures.
Priyanka and Mindy have both confirmed the news in Instagram posts.
“Two women with a passion for telling good stories, just got the green light to their story their way. So proud of this incredible partnership with @mindykaling and #dangoor! We are about to show you what it means to be modern, global, and Indian. See you at the cinema!” wrote Priyanka.
Deadline.com reports that the Mindy Kaling and Priyanka Chopra starrer will be set in America and India. The story revolves around an Indian wedding and the cultural clashes that it sparks. The makers have allegedly called it Crazy Rich Asians meets My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
Kaling will write and direct the show along with Dan Goor, the creator of cop comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The show will be produced by Kaling’s Kaling International, Priyanka Chopra’s Purple Pebble Pictures and 3Arts’ Howard Klein and Goor.
