Ayushmann Khurrana is on a roll. After the massive success of Badhaai Ho and Andhadhun last year, the versatile actor is already busy shooting for Article 15 and has some projects lined up. One of them is Bala. The Amar Kaushik directed quirky comedy went on floors this month, and the team will start shooting in Kanpur from next week. Bala centres around a prematurely balding guy and a small-town girl, played by Bhumi Pednekar. She struggles with a society that is obsessed with fair skin.

Ayushmann Khurrana reveals that they had to shoot with prosthetics as the film shows two-three stages of baldness, Mumbai Mirror reported.

“It is difficult for me to shave my head because we are showcasing different stages of baldness without any natural progression. So if I shoot stage one on the first day, I might be shooting stage two on the the second, and thus it goes. We have to rely on prosthetics”, Ayushmann told Mumbai Mirror.

Ayushmann also said that Bala will strike a chord with a number of people who lose their hair prematurely and are embarrassed of it. “I am thankful of being blessed with thick hair, but there are friends of mine who are in their early 30s but complain of a receding hairline. So, despite the tongue-in-cheek humour, we are dealing with a serious subject”, he added.

Ayushmann is swamped with work this year. He plays the role of a cop in Anubhav Sinha’s Article 15. Apart from that there is Raaj Shaandilya’s Dream Girl, wherein the actor experiments with a woman’s voice. Then, of course, there is Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhan and Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo. So Ayushmann Khurrana fans, gear up to see your favourite actor in different avatars!
