24 February this year will be the first death anniversary and to mark the occasion, husband Boney Kapoor and the rest of her family have decided to put up one of her beloved saris for auction and donate the proceedings to a charitable organisation.

The family have chosen the website Parisera as the platform where the starting bid for the sari is Rs 40,000 and the current bid as of this article was Rs 45,000. The earnings will be donated to Concern India Foundation, which works for the benefit of women, children, the differently abled, the underprivileged and the elderly.

“Being born in a South-Indian household, the actress has worn saris as a badge of her identity and has always infused a sense of unique charisma into its pleats. For the auction, the family has chosen a Kota sari. It is light, bright and emanates the perfect essence of Sridevi.”

“Today, we invite all the admirers to bid for a part of Sridevi’s legacy while making a contribution towards the betterment of the society,” the website noted.

Sridevi is considered one of the most iconic and influential actresses of the modern era in Indian cinema. She got married to producer Boney Kapoor in 1996, and they have two daughters Janhvi and Khushi. She passed away at the age of 56 on 24 February, 2018.
