Bollywood Stands With JNU: Actors, Celebs Join Protests in Mumbai
Celebrities have gathered at Carter Road, Mumbai to protest against JNU attack.
In the light of Jawaharlal Nehru University students being attacked by an unidentified mob on 5 January, protests are being carried out across the country to condemn the attack. Bollywood celebrities have also joined the protests happening at Carter Road in Mumbai, to speak up against the attack on students.
Director Neeraj Ghaywan shared a video on Twitter, showing Vishal Bhardwaj at the protests reciting a poetry.
More pictures and videos on Twitter show Taapsee Pannu, Ali Fazal, Richa Chadha, Anubhav Sinha, Dia Mirza, Zoya Akhtar, Gauahar Khan, Anurag Kashyap and more celebrities at the protest.
Director Hansal Mehta, comedian Kunal Kamra, Reema Kagti, Rahul Bose were also present at the peaceful protest.
Celebrities also took to social media to appeal to people to gather for a silent protest at the Carter Road promenade on the evening of 6 January. Dia Mirza posted on her Instagram story and wrote, “Peaceful Silent Assembly in support of the students of India tonight the 6th of January 2020, from 8 pm to 10 pm, Carter Road promenade in front of Cafe Coffee Day.”
