The Sky is Pink also received a four-minute-long standing ovation for the heartwarming story and spectacular performances by the actors.
Veteran journalist and co-founder of NDTV, Dr Prannoy Roy took to Twitter to express his happiness. “My daughter, Shonali Bose’s film -The Sky is Pink- had its premier at the Toronto International Film Festival last night. The audience gave it one of the longest standing ovations in the history of TIFF. It is the only Asian film with a Gala Premier at TIFF in 2019,” he wrote.
Twitter was flooded with praise for the film. A user wrote, “Amazing to hear from the Chaudhary family today which is whom The Sky is Pink is based. Deep, emotional film about family fighting to keep their daughter alive due to a health condition. Priyanka Chopra was outstanding and Farhan Akhtar was great too.”

This Hindi-language celebration of family solidarity and self-sacrifice in times of trouble earmark it for Indian audiences in and outside India, where Chopra Jonas and Akhtar are major theatrical draws”, writes critic Deborah Young.
