Priyanka Chopra’s The Sky is Pink is all set to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on 13 September. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Priyanka opened up about what drew her to Aditi’s character in The Sky is Pink.

In The Sky is Pink, Priyanka plays the role of Aditi, the mother of a teenage daughter who gets diagnosed with a critical lung disorder. In the interview, Priyanka said that she could relate to Aditi because her (Priyanka’s) mother was exactly like that.

Describing the relationship she shares with her mother, Priyanka said, “ The commonality between Aditi’s character and my relationship with my mother is my mom’s fiercely protective and possessive about my well-being. Nothing else matters. Except me smiling, me being happy, and my well-being. If she sees me not being happy or troubled or tormented about something, she gets ferocious. She doesn’t like to sit back or have a conversation. She needs to fix this.”

She further added that Aditi’s character was exactly the same. She said, “And Aditi’s character is like that. So if her daughter needs something, she’s not passive. She’s active, she’s like, ‘whatever I need to do to make sure she lives the happiest, best life.’ And that was something so common between my mom and Aditi’s character.”

In the same interview, Priyanka also expressed joy over getting her first credit as a producer. “This is my first credit as a producer in a Hindi movie. I’m clearly not used to it,” said Priyanka.

The film is based on the true story of author and motivational speaker Ayesha Chaudhary.

The film stars Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, and Zaira Wasim. It is helmed by Shonali Bose. The film also marks Priyanka’s return to Bollywood after Bajirao Mastani in 2015. The film is based on the true story of author and motivational speaker Ayesha Chaudhary. It will release in India on 11 October.
