It's a Wrap for Sonakshi Sinha on Sets of 'Kalank'
Actor Sonakshi Sinha on Tuesday completed the shooting of the upcoming multi-starrer film Kalank. She took to social media and shared a picture of herself, expressing her happiness on being a part of the film. She wrote: "Just the beginning of the year, and the end of a new film! It's a wrap for me on Kalank... a project I am proud to be a part of! Can't wait for you all to see it."
Kalank also features Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Aditya Roy Kapur. Abhishek Varman is directing the epic drama, which will hit the screens on 19 April. The film is being produced by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta. It has been co-produced by Fox Star Studios.

Inundated With Scripts With Me as the Murderous Villian: Steve Carell
Actor Steve Carell was inundated with offers to play "murderous villains" after his Oscar nomination for Foxcatcher. "(I was inundated with scripts for) psychological thrillers, always with me as the murderous villain. So some doors certainly swung open. But they weren't necessarily ones I wanted to go through," Carell told the Sunday Telegraph.
His new movie is Beautiful Boy, a father-and-son tale of drug addiction which is based on the memoirs of both David, who he plays, and the writer's son, recovering addict Nic Sheff.
While the actor got to meet with the real David, just as when he spoke with fund manager Steve Eisman for his portrayal of a version of him in satire The Big Short, he found their conversations quite uncomfortable. He said: "It's always odd, because you don't want them to feel as if they're some sort of science experiment. But at the same time, you don't want to be cavalier."

Recovering Well: Rajesh Roshan on Brother Rakesh Roshan’s Cancer Surgery
Actor turned filmmaker Rakesh Roshan underwent surgery on 8 January after being diagnosed with throat cancer. In a statement to Mumbai Mirror, his brother music director Rajesh Roshan said, “He is better now and recovering well. We were all very tense about the surgery and the entire family was in hospital with him. God willing, he will be up in the next three days and should be discharged from hospital.”

Singer Zubeen Garg Threatens To Agitate Against Citizenship Bill
Popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg on Tuesday, 8 January, threatened to launch an agitation by himself if Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal fails to take measures to scrap the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill within seven days.
Even as artistes and singers in the state came out on the streets during the ‘Assam bandh’ to protest against the bill, Garg posted an open emotional letter addressed to Sonowal on social media along with a photograph of himself holding the letter. Addressing the chief minister as "Sarbada", the singer said, “Even if the Citizenship Bill has been passed in the Lok Sabha, Sarbada can say no to it. Speak and see, rest will be seen later. I am still keeping my cool. I won’t be in Assam for one week. It will be good if Sarbada takes some action before my return. Otherwise this time, I will agitate on my own. What I will do, I don’t know.”

Actor Manisha Koirala says she is sure that actor-director Rakesh Roshan, who is diagnosed with early stage cancer, will come out as a winner.
On Tuesday, 8 January, actor Hrithik Roshan shared on his social media accounts that his father Rakesh Roshan has been diagnosed with early stage of squamous cell carcinoma, a type of cancer.
A cancer survivor herself, Manisha reacted to the news and said: "I can say only one thing that there is a way out. One should not give up because there is treatment available to this disease. I am sure he will come out of it as winner and I will pray to god that he comes out of it as a winner."
The actor was interacting with at her book launch titled Healed along with celebrated names like Mahesh Bhatt, Anupam Kher, Imtiaz Ali, Amruta Fadnavis, Deepti Naval, Rekha and Dia Mirza.

Delhi HC Dismisses PIL Against Trailer of ‘The Accidental PM’
According to reports, the Delhi High Court has dismissed a PIL against the release of the trailer of the film The Accidental Prime Minister. The PIL, filed by Pooja Mahajan, a Delhi-based fashion designer through her counsel Arun Maitri, said the film will harm the image of the Constitutional post such as Prime Minister and will give it a bad name nationally and internationally. According to ANI, the court has questioned the locus of the petitioner Pooja Mahajan, who is now moving the Supreme Court over the matter.

Peele's 'Us' to Open SXSW Film Festival
Jordan Peeles horror-thriller Us will launch the 26th edition of the South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) on March 8.
Us follows a family confronted by a group of doppelgangers. It stars Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, and Elisabeth Moss. Nyongo and Duke play a couple who are taking their children to their beach house, reports variety.com.
The movie is the first project under Peele's first-look deal with Universal Pictures, which he signed with his Monkeypaw Productions last year after his "Get Out" grossed a massive $255 million worldwide. "Get Out" didn't just become a box office sensation - it also scored an Oscar nomination for best picture and landed Peele a statue for best original screenplay.

Pooja Mahajan, a Delhi-based fashion designer, has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against Delhi High Court’s order of dismissing her plea seeking a ban on the trailer of movie The Accidental Prime Minister, and suspension of the release of the film during the pendency of this present petition, reports news agency ANI.
No Indian content on Pakistan TV, it damages our culture: SC
Pakistan's Chief Justice Saqib Nisar on Wednesday said that the country's Supreme Court will not allow Indian content to be shown on Pakistani TV channels as it "damages our culture".
Nisar's remarks came as a three-member apex court bench heard an appeal filed by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) against the High Court's decision to ban the broadcast of Indian content on TV channels in the country, Dawn newspaper reported.
Pemra's counsel Zafar Iqbal Kalanauri told the Supreme Court that foreign content was banned on court orders before a High Court issued a stay.
The authority's Chairman Saleem Baig said that 65 per cent of the content shown on Filmazia channel was foreign and that the number at times goes as high as 80 per cent, reports IANS.
Indian Film in Rare Gaddi Language Heads to Rotterdam
Ridham Janve's debut feature "The Gold Laden Sheep & The Sacred" will have its international premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) this year.
The film, presented by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), is competing with 20 films from all over the world in the Bright Future Competition Section, which highlights new talents and new approaches to cinema, read a statement.
The fest will be held from January 23 to February 3, reports IANS.
I Was Born to Do 'Gully Boy', Says Ranveer Singh
Actor Ranveer Singh, who plays a street rapper in "Gully Boy", says he was born to do the coming-of-age musical film.
Ranveer spoke at the trailer launch of "Gully Boy" along with his co-star Alia Bhatt, the film's director Zoya Akhtar and producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani here on Wednesday.
In the film, the "Padmaavat" actor plays a street rapper who dreams big.
Ranveer has had a brush with rapping himself. He had rapped a bit in the title track of his second film "Ladies vs Ricky Bahl", reports IANS.
