In June, Ranveer took to social media to welcome Deepika Padukone to the team of ‘83. The couple is all set to play a reel-life couple in the upcoming sports drama, with Ranveer stepping into the shoes of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev and Deepika essaying the role of Romi Dev, Kapil Dev’s wife. Deepika joined the shoot schedule in London.

The couple has previously co-starred in Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani and Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela

Naturally, fans are hoping that a tad bit of Deepika and Ranveer’s on-screen chemistry will spill onto their reel avatars as well. Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Deepika however denied the same. “As actors, you don’t think about your personal equations while doing a film. You are fully focused on the moment and the character,” she said. She also added that while acting, you completely step out of your own persona and immerse yourself in the character you’re playing.

Speaking about how she is preparing for her role, Deepika said that she has been meeting Romi Dev and every visit to the woman is inspiring and refreshing.

83 is inspired from India’s 1983 World Cup victory during which the team was led by Kapil Dev. Speaking about how she is preparing for her role, Deepika said that she has been meeting Romi Dev and every visit to the woman is inspiring and refreshing. “I like her candour. I like the way she conducts herself with so much grace,” she added.

In order to train for the film, the cast of ‘83 is being visited by several veteran cricketers and their expert advice. From Kapil Devto Sunil Gavaskar, everyone has paid a visit to the sets of ‘83.

83 is directed by Kabir Khan. It also features Saqib Saleem, Adinath Kothare, Chirag Patil, Harddy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Jatin Sarna, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Dinker Sharma, Jiiva, Sahil Khattar, Dhairya Karwa, Nishant Dahhiya and R Badree. The film is presented by Reliance Entertainment, and is scheduled to release on 10 April 2020 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
