Former Indian cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar paid a visit to the team of Kabir Khan’s upcoming sports biopic 83 in England. The film is a retelling of the Indian team’s victory at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. It stars Ranveer Singh in the role of then team captain Kapil Dev along with an ensemble cast.

Director Kabir Khan shared a photo of the veteran cricket superstar with the film’s crew on his Instagram Monday 30 July with the caption, “The little master came to see us play cricket in England 🏏 😊 @ranveersingh @tahirrajbhasin@minimathur @83thefilm #Thisis83#behindthescenes” Sunil is affectionately know as the Little Master. In the photo he is seen posing with Kabir, Ranveer, Kabir’s wife and actor Mini Mathur, and Tahir Raj Bhasin who plays Sunil in the film.

Tahir and Mini also shared pictures with Sunil on Instagram. Tahir wrote, “The little master charmed the entire cast and crew on the sets of @83thefilm in England . I could not have asked for more encouragement than to have the legend himself watch over my batting and fielding stance. Swaggering on to a circket field with India’s star opener made me feel “beside myself” with pride !”

Deepika Padukone also features in the film as Ranveer’s on-screen wife Romi Dev. This is Ranveer and Deepika's first film together after their wedding last year. The couple has previously co-starred in Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani and Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. 83 also features Saqib Saleem, Adinath Kothare, Chirag Patil, Harddy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Jatin Sarna, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Dinker Sharma, Jiiva, Sahil Khattar, Dhairya Karwa, Nishant Dahhiya and R Badree.

The film is presented by Reliance Entertainment, and is scheduled to release on 10 April 2020 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
