Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi, on Wednesday, 17 April, lashed out at her own party for reportedly reinstating some of its leaders days after disciplinary proceedings were initiated against them for alleged unruly behavior with Chaturvedi.

In a tweet, the Congress spokesperson expressed her sadness over the “lumpen goons” getting preference over those “who have given their sweat and blood” to the party.

“Having faced brickbats and abuse across board for the party (Congress) but yet those who threatened me within the party getting away with not even a rap on their knuckles is unfortunate.”

The letter on which Chaturvedi’s tweet was based was from the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, which said that there were disciplinary proceedings initiated against eight Congress leaders for their unrestrained behavior during a press conference on the Rafale deal in Mathura.

However, the disciplinary proceedings were taken back on the recommendation of Jyotiraditya Scindia after these eight people expressed regret over the incident.

The letter further appealed to the leaders to not engage in such acts in the near future that would damage the party’s reputation.
