The Maharashtra government on Wednesday, 29 July, extended lockdown in the state till 31 August. However, relaxations have been granted, with the government allowing opening of malls and market complexes without theatres, food courts and restaurants between 9 am and 7 pm from 5 August.

The coronavirus tally in the state crossed the 4 lakh-mark, as 9,211 new cases were reported on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh recorded 10,093 new COVID-19 cases, in what is the biggest one-day spike in the state.

The Union Home Ministry has issued guidelines under ‘Unlock 3’, which would be implemented from 1 August.

11 New Cases Reported in Mizoram

At least 11 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Mizoram in the last 24 hours. The total number of COVID-19 positive cases is 395 including 198 cured/discharged cases and 197 active cases.

India on Wednesday, 29 July recorded close to one lakh new COVID-19 cases within a span of 48 hours, taking India’s tally over the 15 lakh-mark.

According to the ministry of health and family welfare, the total number of cases in India stand at 15,31,669 including 5,09,447, active cases, 9,88,030 discharged/migrated and 34,193 deaths.

Manipur's Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Reports First COVID Death

Manipur's Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, reported its first COVID-19 death, according to ANI. The patient had multiple co-morbidities, ANI quoted Prof Ch. Arunkumar Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital as saying.

1,068 New Cases in Odisha

At least 1,068 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Odisha in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 29,175. The number of recovered cases is 18,060 and active cases are 10,920.

Kejriwal Orders Delinking of Hotels Attached With Hospitals

CM Arvind Kejriwal ordered delinking of hotels attached with hospitals, in view of improving COVID-19 situation in Delhi.

He also insisted on strict compliance of guidelines for antigen tests.

“Existing guidelines say that if any patient’s antigen test is negative but has symptoms, RT-PCR test must be done on him. I directed the officers today to ensure strict compliance of these guidelines,” he said.

91 New COVID-19 Cases in Arunachal Pradesh

At least 91 people including 19 security personnel tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, taking the state’s tally to 1,330, PTI reported.

2,334 COVID-19 Cases in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh's COVID19 case tally rose to 2,334. There are 1,043 active cases, 1,262 recovered cases and 12 deaths, ANI reported.

COVID Cases in Maharashtra Police Force Rise to 8,958

At least 236 more Maharashtra Police personnel test positive for COVID-19 while one died in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 98, ANI reported quoting Maharashtra police.

The total number of police personnel infected with COVID-19 now stands at 8,958, out of which 6,962 have recovered and 1,898 are active cases.

5,503 New COVID-19 Cases in Karnataka; Tally Rises to 1.12 Lakh

Karnataka on Wednesday reported 5,503 new COVID-19 cases and 92 fatalities, taking the tally in the state to 1,12,504 and the death toll to 2,155, including eight due to non-COVID-19 causes.

1,035 New COVID-19 Cases in Delhi; 1,126 Recoveries

Delhi on Wednesday reported 1,035 new COVID-19 cases and 26 fatalities, taking the tally in the national capital to 1,33,310 and the death toll to 3,907. Notably, 1,126 patients also recovered or were discharged on Wednesday.
