An unforgettable mistake made by Steve Harvey during the Miss Universe 2015 show, broadcast live, left many, including eventual winner Miss Philipines Pia Wurtzbach, stunned.
Harvey had mistakenly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo as the winner and Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach as the first runner-up.
Arevalo was already wearing the crown when Harvey returned to the stage to announce that he had a mistake and Wurtzbach was the actual winner, with Arevalo the runner up.
Videos of the incident have gone viral and Harvey has faced a lot of criticism on social media, with many questioning if the goof up was pre-planned.
But the reaction of Gutierrez following the faux pas is commendable.
Gutierrez left a message on Miss Universe’s official Twitter handle, in response to the incident.
Despite experiencing what must have been an extremely embarrassing incident, Gutierrez’s finesse and grace proves that although life may throw you curve balls, you must pick yourself up and move on.
She may have not won the crown, but she just won our hearts. Kudos to you, Miss Colombia!
