Those closely following the UN climate conference in Paris, France, got a few laughs from a strange little goof-up made by the official English COP21 Twitter account.

While the President of Russia’s name happens to be Vladimir Putin, Poutine is a whole different kettle of fish – or bowl of french fries to be precise. It is a dish made of french fries and cheese curds topped off with gravy. And no, it’s not French, it’s Canadian.

Wikipedia claims Poutine originated in Quebec, which is a predominantly French-speaking part of Canada. So, perhaps, we can give the hapless person the benefit of doubt and just presume s/he was a very hungry Canadian in Paris who happened to be craving french fries (which have an uncertain origin story that might actually make them Belgian Fries).
