In a fresh incident of what looks like moral policing, a college in Mangaluru has suspended two female students after party pictures of theirs, which showed alcohol bottles, went viral on WhatsApp.
According to a Times of India report, Kukke Sri Subrahmanyeswara College in Sullia taluk in Dakshina Kannada district suspended two second year BBM students on Friday.
The college has received information that the girls’ photos were circulated on WhatsApp. A students’ organization and local people have demanded action against the girls. The principal suspended the girls and has initiated an inquiry into the issue

The girls’ parents however, said their daughters were not present at any party. The picture has been doing the rounds on WhatsApp in and around Sullia taluk for the past month. Though the alleged incident took place outside the campus, the college suspended the girls following pressure from a students’ organisation and local people.
The decision seems harsh since the alleged incident took place outside the campus and the college does not reserve the right to suspend students for activities outside campus.
