The Delhi Transport Authority has been holding back registration approvals for the recently launched two-wheelers with BS-III engines, like the Royal Enfield Himalayan, Bajaj V and the new Suzuki Access 125. There has been some confusion regarding the future of these products but the latest development is bound to bring relief to two-wheeler manufacturers.
The pending approvals have been cleared and according to the Delhi transport department, all models launched before 31 March 2016 have time until 1 April 2017 to upgrade to BS-IV engines. Every upcoming two-wheeler that will launch after 1 April 2016, will need to have BS-IV engine in order to go on sale.
With concerns over rising levels of pollution in the city, this could be a win-win situation for everyone as BS-IV engines pollute considerably less than BS-III engines.
