The 2016 Delhi Auto Expo is almost here and we are expecting to see hordes of new car and bike models being launched in India.
TVS has joined the series of companies launching their latest models, with the Apache RTR 200 4V.
Priced at Rs 89,990, the latest offering by the Chennai-based automaker will be competing with the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS.
The 198cc model has been given street naked looks and this puts it right against the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS, which has established itself comfortably in this cubic capacity segment.
The bike is powered by a single cylinder, four-valve oil-cooled engine which is offered in two versions as a carbureted or a fuel injected unit.
The carbureted version makes 20.5 PS of power and the fuel-injected version churns out 21 PS of power, both of these units put out 18 Nm of torque. These oil-cooled engines are connected to a 5-speed transmission system.
TVS seems to have put in a fair amount of effort with the styling of the eldest sibling in the company’s motorcycle line up.
The headlamps with Daytime Running LEDs (DRL), monoshock suspension, blacked out motor, twin-barell muffler, all-digital instrument cluster, aggressively styled fuel tank with matte finished paint schemes look good, but not outstanding.
The chiselled fuel tank, large belly pan and the rear LED tail lamp manage to keep this bike relatable to the other Apache models.

Neat additions like the split seats and headlamps minus wind along with the high rear seat positioning give the bike a sporty look, although as a package it might fail to excite you.
While the base carbureted variant costs you Rs 89,990, the fuel injected variant will cost Rs 1.07 lakh and with ABS, the price shoots up to Rs 1.15 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
The question is, will this bike be able to give the Pulsar 200NS a run for its money? Only time will tell.
