The all new BMW G 310 R has arrived and by the looks of it, is here to stay.

At first glance you’ll immediately notice the short-wheel base and naked bike character which gives it a very agile and dynamic look. It has a very evident visual kinship with the BMW S 1000 R.

Is It Powerful?

Although the bike certainly stands out in the looks department, it is the engine that is the main attraction. Making this the first sub-500cc BMW roadster, the engine is a single cylinder 313 cc engine with electronic fuel injection and produces an impressive 34 bhp at 9500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The power figures, which are impressive by themselves become crazy good when you throw the weight of the bike into the equation. At mere 158.5 kilograms, the riders might need to hold onto the handlebar a little tighter.

Can the G 310 R Handle it?

On paper, the answer seems to be yes.

It comes fitted with 2-channel ABS as standard. In the front, there is a 300 mm single-disc brake with radially bolted 4-piston fixed caliper. At the back, this function is performed by a 240-millimetre brake disc with 2-piston floating caliper in conjunction.

If ride quality takes precedence on your check-list then BMW offers an upside-down fork suspension on the front, and a long aluminium swing arm in conjunction with a spring strut that is mounted on it directly, whereas the seat is situated at a height of 785 millimetres.

The Big Question

Will it be available in India?

BMW has developed the G 310 R in Munich but it will be produced with TVS as its cooperation partner.

As of now there has been no announcements about the launch date or whether this bike will be available in India, We certainly hope it does.
