Ford is all set to launch the latest generation of its Ford Figo hatchback on September 23, 2015. There are no details about the car that auto journalists in India haven’t listed, apart from its pricing.
After launching the Figo Aspire recently in India, the Figo Hatchback is the company’s latest attempt to regain pride and sales numbers in India’s premium hatchback segment.
Here’s all we know about the car right now.
The Ford Figo hatchback will sport a design similar to that of the Figo Aspire with a large Aston Martin-type front grill and clean lines on the body.
What will be missing in Ford’s latest model is the sedan-like boot seen on the Aspire.
Like the Figo Aspire, the Figo Hatchback will also be available in three engine options: 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol, 1.5-litre TDCI and 1.5-litre Ti-VCT motor.
The base model of the Figo hatchback will be powered by a1.2-litre Ti-VCT engine, will churn out 88 PS @ 6300 rpm and 112 Nm @ 4000 rpm of peak torque.
The 1.5-litre TDCi will have the capacity to produce 100 PS of power and 215 Nm of torque.
The third engine option is a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT, will produce 112 PS @ 6300 rpm and 136 Nm @ 4250 rpm of torque. This will also come with a 6-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox and give stiff competition to the likes of Polo GT TSI.
Chances are that company might just announce an eco-boost engine option on the Ford Figo Hatchback.
All the variants will get two airbags and the top end variant will have 6 airbags – a first in the segment.
The Figo Hatchback will also get a smart MyFord Dock for your smart devices and Ford’s own Sync and App Link feature, but expect that in the top-end model.
