Motorola recently announced the Moto X Style in India. It’s the latest smartphone in the Moto X series and, in a way, it’s different from the Moto X Play.

The build quality is better than what you get on the Moto X Play and, like its cousins, the Moto X Style is also water-resistant. One look at the phone and you know that it’s made by Motorola.

The phone’s back panel definitely has an upmarket feel to it, but the Moto X Play isn’t too bad when it comes to build quality either. The phone weighs 179 grams but doesn’t feel that heavy.

The Moto X Style has a 5.7-inch (1440×2560 pixels) Quad HD display that looks better than its rivals in this price range. The colour reproduction was quite accurate and a little towards the warm side.

The phone is also powered by a 1.8GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor with Adreno 418 GPU and runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) OS. The almost stock android experience is smooth and the user experience is intuitive.

The phone supports a 21-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash that supports 4K video recording and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash, similar to the one seen on the Moto X Play.

The image quality was decent and the camera was fast, but we did experience focusing issues while capturing macro images.

Motorola bundles the phone with a Motorola TurboPower 25 Charger that claims 10 hours of power in just 15 minutes. While that’s a big claim, but if the battery is close enough to that of the Moto X Play, the company has a winner here.

The phone supports 4G bands in India and comes in 16GB and 32GB internal storage versions. The memory can be expanded up to 128GB with a micro SD card. The 16GB version is priced at Rs 29,999 which is a bit expensive for the bells and whistles that it offers over the Moto X Play.

The 32GB version should have been the standard version by Motorola in India if they were serious about going premium. The phone is a dual-SIM smartphone that supports 4G LTE bands in India, so it is future-ready.

It will also be competing against the Google Nexus 5X that is launching in India soon.

The Moto X Style comes in black and white colours.
