Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 Go Official in New York

All you need to know about Samsung’s much awaited Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+.

Samsung at their Unpacked 2015 event in New York unveiled the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+.

Both these smartphones are Samsung’s flagship phones, taking the crown away from the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Both these smartphones will be available in select markets from August 2015. The products will be available in Indian markets from September 2015.

In United States, the Galaxy Note 5 is available via AT&T at $739.99 for the 32GB variant, and $839.99 for the 64GB variant. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ is priced at $814.99 and $914.99 for the 32GB and 64GB variants respectively.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be available only in 32GB and 64GB variants. There is no scope to expand the memory as there is no space on the phones for a microSD card slot.

Both the phones are loaded with 3000mAh non-removable batteries.

The new flagship smartphones will support Fast Charging technology for both wired and wireless options.

The Galaxy Note 5 has dimensions of 153.2x76.1x7.6mm, and a weighs 171 grams. The phone comes with 5.7 Inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display and is powered by Exynos 7420 Octa-core Processor and 4 GB RAM.

One supercool feature on the Note 5 is that it comes with physical keyboard cover that makes typing easier; the keyboard slides to the back when not in use.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ measures 154.4x75.8x6.9mm, and weighs 153 grams.

The Galaxy S6 Edge+ also features a 5.7 inch display with 515 ppi of pixel resolution, but the display is curved just like the Samsung Galaxy S6.

The System on Chip on the S6 Edge+ is Exynos 7 Octa-core 7420 with 4GB of RAM.

The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+smartphones will feature a similar 16 megapixel primary camera with f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilisation, that was seen on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge.

For selfies you will get a 5 megapixel front camera. The phones will feature a fingerprint sensor as well on the home key button.

The two smartphones will be available in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, and Silver Titanium colour variants.

Given the upgrades that the phone has to offer, it sure is big on specs but will it be really worth spending more than Rs 50,000 on these phones?
