World leaders are expressing dismay, sadness and solidarity with France over the attack carried out by a man who drove a truck into crowds of people celebrating France’s national day in Nice, killing 84.
American President Barack Obama condemned the deadly attack and offered any assistance France might need in order to investigate.

Trump also announced that he has postponed his press conference regarding the Vice Presidential announcement, originally scheduled to take place on Friday.
Speaking to CNN, Hillary Clinton commented on the “war against radical jihadists” and said:
I think it is clear we are at war with these terrorist groups and what they represent. It is a different kind of war and we need to be smart about how we wage it and win it. So I think we need to look at all possible approaches to doing just that. We’re at war against radical jihadists who use Islam to recruit and radicalise others in order to pursue their evil agenda. It is not so important what we call these people as what we do about them.
Secretary of State John Kerry expressed US’s support for France and said
“Horrendous attack in Nice... I was proud to stand alongside French leaders earlier today at Bastille Day celebrations in Paris, and the United States will continue to stand firmly with the French people during this time of tragedy.”
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Germany would stand by France’s side in the “fight against terrorism”.

UK’s newly appointed Foreign Secretary also tweeted about the attack:
President Jacob Zuma said in a statement released by the Foreign Ministry that South Africa “stands firmly with the international community in condemning all forms of terrorism and stands in solidarity with the government of the Republic of France as they mourn the death of their citizens.”
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the government and people of Pakistan were deeply saddened by the attack.

The ruler of oil-rich Kuwait has condemned the attack in Nice, France, saying it “runs counter to all religious teachings and humanitarian values.”
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said “we strongly condemn terrorism of all forms. We express our condolences to the victims and we will fight all kinds of terrorism.”
Japanese Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Japan also aims to strengthen its counter-terrorism measurements to ensure safety of Japan.
Putin said Russia is willing to work closely with France and other countries to fight terrorism which is “devoid of any human moral.”
