Islamic preacher Zakir Naik said he is willing to return to India “whenever the government or the agencies want” him.

Naik had gone to Saudi Arabia on a pilgrimage and was supposed to return to India on 11 July. But he later changed his plans and reportedly went to Africa instead.

In an interview with the Times of India from Jeddah, he said he was ready to face action if he had broken any law and challenged anyone to show how he had attempted to disrupt harmony in the country.

Naik has been in the news for controversial sermons on his television channel Peace TV, which are being examined by the government.

On Wednesday night, an accused Arshid Qureshi was arrested for allegedly recruiting youngsters in Kerala for Islamic State. Qureshi is an alleged member of Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation. He will be questioned by the Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad and later taken to Kerala.
