Senior Journalist Inder Malhotra Passes Away, Journos Pay Tribute

Veteran journalist Inder Malhotra passed away on Saturday, in a Delhi hospital. He had been on the ventilator for some time and was 86 years old.

Well known for mentoring young reporters in the fraternity and one of the most respected journalists in the country, Inder Malhotra had worked with The Times of India and The Statesman. His career started with the United Press of India, as reported by The Hindu.

He also wrote extensively on Indira Gandhi and the Emergency, and his publications include Indira Gandhi: A Personal & Political Biography (1989), Dynasties of India And Beyond (2003), and a fresh biography of Indira Gandhi (2006). He also wrote for The Guardian and was a Nehru Fellow (1986-87).

He is survived by his son, painter Anil Revri and his wife Rekha Malhotra died in 2007.

Journalists and politicians across the country paid tribute to the senior editor, and the influence he and his articles had on young journalists.
