Chanting slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai,’ outstation students of NIT Srinagar along with Jammu varsity students staged a protest march in the city. The students reiterated their demand of shifting the institute out of Srinagar. They also demanded that all cases against non-Kashmiri students of NIT be withdrawn and full security be provided to them.
Over 300 NIT students carrying banners and placards marched towards the Press Club of Jammu. The protesters shouted slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘NIT shift karo’.

Outstation students reached Jammu last night and have been housed at Khalsa College ground in Jammu.
Students of Jammu University also held protests in support of the NIT students and blocked the road. They were joined by activists of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP). Similar scenes played out in Katra as well.
Tension gripped the NIT Srinagar campus after India lost to West Indies in the semi-final of the WT20, allegedly prompting some local students to rejoice and burst crackers.
This led to protest by outstation students resulting in clashes. Since the night of 31 March, the situation inside the campus has been volatile.
