An overdose of either anti-anxiety drug alprax or local anesthetic lidocaine may have caused Sunanda Pushkar’s death, according to a recent FBI report accessed by CNN IBN. Investigations on how these substances entered her body are underway.
The FBI report, based on the analysis of Pushkar’s visceral cavities, rule out poisoning by radioactive substances like polonium, illicit drugs and alcohol abuse.
After analysing the FBI reports, forensic expert Dr SK Shukla believes there’s ‘something fishy’ in her death.
Initial investigations on 17 January 2014 at a five-star hotel in South Delhi revealed that strips of alprax and a needle mark were found near and on Pushkar’s body respectively.
AIIMS in its report earlier this month suggested investigating if Pushkar was injected with insulin, which could be fatal if a person was starving for two-three days.
Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi told CNN-IBN that the cause of death was unnatural and that further investigation was needed to establish if her death was suicide, homicide or an accident.
Six witnesses and Pushkar’s husband Shashi Tharoor, have been questioned and made to undergo lie detector tests multiple times already.
