Three youth from Hyderabad have been arrested at the Nagpur airport few days back. It is alleged that the trio, all in their early 20’s were brought back to Hyderabad to be produced before the city court on charges of looking to join Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

According to police, the trio of youth had confessed to have ‘jihadi ideaology’ which sent the alarm bills ringing for the authorities. They have been booked under varied sections of Indian Penal Code and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for their attempt to wage war against India.

As per Joint Commissioner of Police, Prabhakar Rao, the trio were on their way to Kashmir where they would meet Asiya Andrabi, chief of Dukhtran-e-Millat, a seperatist group who will help them cross the border and go to Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.

Apparently, a complaint under the missing case had been lodged by the family of three youth at Chandrayangutta and Humayunagar police stations which helped the police to trace them to the airport.

The trio of youth, Syed Omer Farooq Hussaini Mohammed Abdul Basith and Maaz Hasan Farooq are said to be newphews of the late Syed Salahuddin, former president of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). This isn’t the first time when Abdullah & Co. decided to flee the country in order to join the extremist group. Last year, they tried going to Afghanistan via Bangladesh but it not materialise thanks to police efforts.

Another case of youth going to join ISIS from India was in the news recently, when a 16 year old Pune girl was questioned by Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Pune, who was apparently radicalised by her ISIS contacts to come and join their revolution in Syria.
