Delhi High Court refused to quash the trial court’s summons issued to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald Case. ‘

Justice Sunil Gaur dismissed their pleas which means they will have to appear before the trial court in the case tomorrow.

The court also dismissed the pleas of Congress treasurer Motilal Vora, family friend Suman Dubey and party leader Oscar Fernandes along with Sam Pitroda and Young India Ltd. It also refused to extend the August 6, 2014 interim order by which the summons were stayed.

The Gandhis are also expected to move the Supreme Court challenging the HC order.

BJP member Subramanian Swamy had filed a case against the the duo, accusing them of cheating and misappropriating funds in the acquisition of National Herald, a newspaper which is now defunct. Swamy alleged that the Gandhis earned Rs 1,300 crore by transferring their holdings in Associated Journal Ltd (AJL) to a Young India Ltd.

According to the accusation, Sonia Gandhi held 83.3 per cent of the shares in Young India Ltd, while 15.5 per cent was held by Motilal Vohra and 1.2 per cent by Oscar Fernandes.
