Six people, including an MLA, were killed when a truck, laden with granite, collided with Bengaluru-bound Nanded Express early on Monday morning. Five passengers in the H1 coach of the train and and the truck driver were killed.
Among those killed was AA Venkatesh Naik, a Karnataka Congress legislator from Devadurg constituency in Raichur district. The collision took place at a level-crossing at Madakasira, Penukonda mandal of Anantpur district, Andhra Pradesh (CHECK) disrupting movement of trains on the Bengaluru-Guntakal route.
Local police and Railways officials have launched rescue work.
