Anurag Kashyap’s Tweets Reveal His Anger Over Udta Punjab Cuts

The past few days have been rife with speculation and news over the Shahid Kapoor-starrer Udta Punjab not making through the censor board’s cut- or the censor board making too many cuts in the film- and no one’s too happy about it, least of all Anurag Kashyap, who took to Twitter to voice his frustrations.

Kashyap is one of the producer’s for Udta Punjab, which is set to come out on 16 June and is currently facing flak from a censor board committee for use of the term ‘Punjab’ in the title.

Kashyap’s somewhat exaggerated comparison of the current state of affairs to North Korea comes after the Revising Committee of the Censor Board asked for 89 cuts in Udta Punjab.

Joseph Ka Mukadama is a play by playwright Mohan Maharishi which was based on Franz Kafka’s The Trial. Kafka’s novel talks about a totalitarian regime and the psychological methods of control by the authorities.

This could again be a slightly hyperbolic reference to the current situation Udta Punjab is in.
