Film:
Captain America: Civil War
Cast: Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Runner
Directed by:
Anthony Russo and Joe Russo
I have been waiting for this film since I saw its trailer on the big screen a few weeks ago. Superheroes walk in and walk out of the frame by the dozen. I had high expectations from Captain America: Civil War and I walked out extremely satisfied. It takes some time to even recollect the number of characters you see in the film, they could make a game of ‘spot the superhero’ with this one.
We all know
that out of all Marvel superheroes, Captain America has been the most uncool
and old-fashioned all these years hence this time he gets the coolest film with his name and an
army of superheroes backing him!
What this gang of superheroes is doing is causing a lot of collateral damage when they fight the bad guys and throw them against tall buildings and people in those skyscrapers die. So the Avengers and Iron Man have to be monitored by the United Nations and the US Secretary of State (William Hurt).
Some agree and some don’t so the superheroes are divided.
Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) , Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), War Machine
(Don Cheadle) and Vision (Paul Bettany) feel they have to be accountable so
they agree with UN. But Captain America (Chris Evans) opposes it and feels they
are doing the right thing and won’t be able to function with politicos as their
bosses. In his gang he has Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and
Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). Some other superheroes walk in and join
different sides, so you will see Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), the other Marvel
superheroes like Black Panther and even Spider-Man.
The new Spider-Man is played by the 19-year-old English actor Tom Holland and he is a treat to watch!
Captain America:
Civil War is the largest ensemble yet in a
Marvel movie and at 2 hours and 26 minutes this is also the longest Marvel
film. In times when short narratives are taking over the internet, I’m not sure
if a longer running time is something to be proud of. The film could have and
should have been chopped by at least 10 to 15 minutes.
Since every superhero comes with some cool
super power it’s a dream to watch them together and fight each other. The scene
when they charge towards each other and fight with the coolest powers is quite
amazing. When they face each-other, your loyalties will be divided but it’s fun
to be on either side. There is a lot of destruction in this film which is kinda fun!
Every character plays an important part in the fight and every department excels, be it the writing, background music, special effects or action. There couldn’t be a better film to bring these iconic characters together, it’s a brilliant addition to the series! Even if you have not followed some of these superheroes you can sit back and enjoy the film.
Captain America: Civil War is a Blockbuster!
