Deepika Padukone won the Filmfare Award last year for Piku. The beautiful and talented actress turned uncharacteristically emotional when she took the opportunity to share a letter that her father Prakash Padukone had written to her earlier. As she turns 31 today, here’s a throwback to the moment that obviously meant a lot for the star.
She opens her speech with,
I’m going to take two minutes of your time and read out a letter that I found, that my father wrote to me and my sister a couple of years ago. And I felt that it was apt to read out, especially because the award is for Piku.
The letter, one must admit, is an extremely sweet one written by a father who adores his daughters. One can sense the pride that Prakash Padukone feels, watching his daughter make life choices basing them on what her heart tells her.
The letter ends with, “remember that no matter what, we are always going to be with you”.
Mr Padukone, salut.
Oh BTW, don’t miss the split second in the video where Ranveer Singh is seen giving Deepika a standing ovation, with an intense look on his face.
