The actor turned producer says that only male newcomers may get paid less than senior actresses, but by and large the gender inequality present in society does get reflected in the way Bollywood functions.

In a column she wrote for The Economic Times this year, Sharma claimed that actresses in Bollywood are paid just about a quarter of what actors are offered for a film.
