After multiple meetings in the last few days, the BJP and its three regional allies arrived at a consensus on seat-sharing for the Bihar election this morning, and BJP President Amit Shah announced the division.

The BJP will contest 160 seats, Ram Vilas Paswan’s Lok Jan-shakti Party will contest 40 seats, Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Samata Party will contest for 23 seats and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustan Awam Morcha will contest 20 out of 243 seats in Bihar.

NDA announces seat break-up for the Bihar elections to be held from October 15 to November 5.

Amit Shah announced the break-up at a press conference earlier today and maintained that all differences within the party over seat sharing have been resolved.

The NDA is hoping for a two-thirds majority in the Bihar elections.

Jitan Ram Manjhi and Ram Vilas Paswan have both maintained that “it was never about the number of seats for their party” and that they are happy with the distribution.

The Parliamentary board, Amit Shah said, will decide who will contest from which part of Bihar.

The Election Commission has announced that the Bihar polls will be held in five phases from October 12 to November 5, 2015.
