Battle For Votes

Exit poll figures for Kerala indicate a return of power for the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the state.

Burdened with the weight of corruption charges, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) coalition appears to be trailing behind.

BJP might open its account in the state, after all.

The UDF, led by Oommen Chandy of the Congress has ruled the state for the past five years. The LDF winning, would be in line with the state’s track record of alternating between the two fronts for decades now.

The counting of votes is scheduled for May 19.

Shashi Tharoor in his statement to NDTV accepts that some of the exit poll figures are indicating a win for the LDF.

As I understand there are couple of polls one of which show a narrow win for the LDF. I am not yet ready to write off the Congress. But if it turns out so, it will be because of current pattern of changing governments.
