Chris Martin’s Secret Surprise Gig
Chris Martin came to Summerhouse Cafe on Wednesday night. He ordered a Martini. He played an impromptu acoustic set. It doesn’t get any bigger and better than that, does it?
Twitter and Facebook is flooded with Dilliwalas cursing their luck for missing a once in a lifetime kind of night. But that majority isn’t alone, the Director of Summerhouse, Anchit Kapil missed Martin, by just a whisker!
Missed it? So Did the Owner
So if you are one of those people throwing things at their screen after looking at pictures and articles from last night’s surprise gig, maybe Kapil’s story will make you feel a tad bit better.
“Even my dog wouldn’t look at me”
I left work at 10:30 pm, Martin came at around 11. I hate myself, my wife hates me, my family and friends aren’t talking to me, so much so that even my dog refuses to look at me.
— Anchit Kapil, Director, Summerhouse Cafe
Kapil recounts that it was a usual Wednesday night at the Summerhouse Cafe; there were around a hundred people and he left work at 10:30 pm. It was only at around 12:30 am that he received half a dozen frenzied calls.
I am still in denial, I can’t believe Chris Martin played an impromptu gig at my Cafe and I missed it. But my cafe has turned holy, it’s like God was there. Chris Martin has promised he will come back.
— Anchit Kapil, Director, Summerhouse Cafe
A Night to Remember
The cafe received a call from Vijay Nair, the CEO of Only Much Louder (OML), a driving force behind the premier music festivals in the country. In ten minutes, the cafe staff managed to arrange ten bouncers and a sound system.
Chris Martin was accompanied by actress Freida Pinto, music composer Vishal Dadlani, singer Raghu Dixit and the whole AIB gang.
Martin was introduced on stage by the AIB gang.
While Kapil is obviously over the moon about the cafe’s big night, he has found an interesting way to pacify himself, one that all of us could use:
For all the others like me who are feeling horrible about missing Chris Martin, well you should spare a thought for those who sat on the terrace in oblivion, while Chris Martin played downstairs.
-Anchit Kapil, Director, Summerhouse Cafe
Meanwhile, Dilliwalas let us just hope and pray that Martin will come back for that Martini or even better, announce a Coldplay India concert.
