This week Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan return to the big screen with Tanu Weds Manu Returns. I’ve seen the film and found it to be thoroughly entertaining.

Here are five things that make Tanu Weds Manu Returns a must watch:

1. Kangana’s Phenomenal Performance

Soon after she won a National Award for Best Actor, Kangana Ranaut is back with a bang. Her double role as Tanu’s lookalike must’ve been challenging but she’s nailed the dialect and everything about the character with total perfection.

2. A Total Family Entertainer

It’s a film you can watch with your friends and family. A good laugh is guaranteed. It’s a clean film in the sense that censors wouldn’t have found any scene warranting the axe. There is a wedding, a baraat and all the drama that happens in an Indian family before a wedding. I lost count of the number of people who want to get married in this film. TWMR can be watched with Mummy and Papa without any flinching.

3. Brilliant Supporting Cast

Of course Kangana steals the show but there are others who perform well too. I didn’t particularly like R. Madhavan, I thought he was too stiff but then there is Jimmy Shergill who also wants to marry both the characters Kangana plays and he is competing with Maddy in both the races. Deepak Dobriyal, Swara Bhaskara and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub deliver terrific performances. Their characters are well sketched out and the actors leave no stone unturned in delivering humorous and classic performances.

4. Desi Magic

It’s an adorable story from India’s heartland. From the dialect to the costumes, the setting and traditions, it’s all in place and it’s put together very well. The opening scene is in London but then the film takes you to villages and small towns and what an interesting and hilarious journey it is.

5. Twists and Turns

It’s a light film, but it’s far from bland. The film has enough twists and turns to keep the ride going till the very end. Post the interval you will be itching to find out whom Tanu will eventually marry, and whom the lookalike will marry. Get the tickets before your friends and critics give out all the twists in this tale!
