Jammu & Kashmir is again at the mercy of rain gods. This even as the valley struggles to recover from the devastation of the last year’s floods. Incessant rains over the past week have increased water level in the River Jhelum.

This morning, the civil administration declared floods in Srinagar when the Jhelum rose past the danger mark of 16 feet at Ram Munshi Bagh. The flooding in the river has brought back memories of the of September 2014 deluge.

Hundreds of people have been evacuated from low lying areas in the Kashmir valley where flood waters have already created panic among the residents. J&K Chief Minister Mufti has said that his govt is dealing with the situation. Delhi has also rushed NDRF personnel for relief and rescue work.
