As Barack Obama bids goodbye to Presidency, TV host Ellen DeGeneres and a few LGBTQ stars came together to pay a tribute to him for championing LGBT rights during his tenure. They made a video thanking him for all the steps he took “for making LGBT people more visible.”

The video was uploaded on The Ellen Show’s YouTube channel, with an accompanying message that read:

Ellen compiled a message from the likes of Neil Patrick Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and many more to offer a personal message of thanks to President Obama for everything he was able to accomplish in the name of equality.

The video features a number of visibly-emotional celebrities thanking the outgoing-President for “one of the most positive periods ever in the lives of gay Americans.” Many went ahead to ask, “How can we ever thank you?"

Obama is known to have appreciated Ellen for coming out as a lesbian in the ‘90s. He honoured her with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.

Some of the successes of Barack Obama include “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, Hate Crime Act and legalisation of same-sex marriages.
