As your D-Day approaches, the problems of hair and makeup are only going to bunch up. No pun intended.

Last week we covered the basics of choosing makeup and a makeup artist for your D-Day. Now’s the time to talk about your hair.

I’m a big believer of natural remedies when it comes to hair problems, so here are my fixes for some of our all-time hair problems as well as tips on hair styling.

Home Remedies for Gorgeous Hair

I haven’t yet met a woman who’s totally satisfied with her mane – and as the wedding approaches, all these problems are going to look bigger. So instead of spending a bomb at salons, try doing these a month or two prior to the wedding:

DOs and DON’Ts of Hair Styling

1. Don’t do anything extreme: This may feel like the right time to chop off your hair or colour it Marsala Red but trust me, it’s not. Unless you’ve been colouring your hair from before, or to cover greys, try not to do anything drastic. Instead, hone what you already have.

2. The truth about hair extensions: Chances are, your makeup artist will convince you to use extensions to add more length and volume to your hair. When buying these, buy 6-8 inch long extensions instead of 12 inches. Not only are they cheaper but also look better and is what an average Indian woman needs for a healthy set of curls or a top knot.

3. Know your face: I have a pear-shaped face that is a bit sallow on the sides, so opting for a bun will help my face. But if you have a round face, chubby cheeks or a double chin, then please think before you agree to this. Make sure you discuss at least 5-6 hairdos in advance instead of just settling for curls/bouffant. The Internet is full of tutorials for half-side bun, fishtail braid, braid bun…you know the drill. Remember, it should suit your face and highlight the best of your features.
