Defections, resignations and resorts –– that's what Karnataka politics has been about for a while. The politics spilled over from Bengaluru to Mumbai and even to the Supreme Court in Delhi. If you're left wondering can somebody please explain, well, that's exactly what this episode of the Big Story is going to be about.

What is the origin of the current political crisis in the state, who are the players, what is the way forward?

On 17 July, it's already been a month since the ruling JD(S)-Congress government turned, in political terms, unstable.

In a nutshell, 16 rebel MLAs resigned and withdrew their support to the coalition government. Fifteen of them landed at the Supreme Court's doorsteps accusing the Karnataka Assembly Speaker of not accepting their resignations. Then the court decided two things –– first, the Speaker is free to decide on the resignations in a time-frame he wants to. And second, the rebels don't have to attend the Assembly session.

How did we get here? And what does the apex court ruling even mean? To understand all this tune in to The Big Story!
