The Congress government, led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot won the vote of confidence in the Rajasthan Assembly on Friday, 14 August, just days after Sachin Pilot negotiated a truce with the party leadership in Delhi, putting an end to the political crisis in the state.

The CM said that the victory is a message to the forces "trying to destabilise" elected governments in the country, adding that the BJP's conspiracy failed in Rajasthan.

"This has put a full stop on all suspicions that were arising," Pilot declared after the trust vote.

  • “I was safe on the seat I used to sit on earlier. Then I thought why have I been allotted a different seat. I saw that this is the border... Who is sent to the border? The strongest warrior,” Pilot said
  • Pilot on Thursday met Gehlot in Jaipur, which was his first interaction with the CM since he kicked off the rebellion last month
  • The BJP had earlier said that it would bring a No-Confidence Motion against the Gehlot-led Congress government in the Assembly session

'A Message to Forces Trying to Destabilise Elected Govts': Ashok Gehlot

After winning the trust vote in the Assembly, CM Ashok Gehlot on Friday said that it is a message to the forces "trying to destabilise" elected governments in the country.

"Their every tactic failed in Rajasthan. It is people’s unwavering trust in us and unity of our Congress MLAs that has brought this victory," he was quoted as saying.

"In the entire state, there is a wave of happiness. The BJP's conspiracy has failed in Rajasthan. I consider it a win for the people of Rajasthan. Now, we have to work together to fight COVID-19," he added.

“The way BJP had conspired in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, They applied the same technique in Rajasthan, but they have been exposed.”

“This has put a full stop on all suspicions that were arising. A roadmap has been prepared for all the issues that were being raised. I have complete faith, that roadmap will be announced timely,” Pilot said.

Refusing to comment on seating pattern in the Assembly, he added, "It is not important where one sits, but what is in the hearts and minds of people."

‘Strongest Warrior Sent on Border’: Pilot on New Seat in Assembly

As the Assembly Session got underway in Rajasthan on Friday, Sachin Pilot's seating became the centre of attention. The Congress leader, who was sacked as deputy CM during the rebel crisis, has now been given a seat near the Opposition benches.

“I was safe on the seat I used to sit on earlier. Then I thought why have I been allotted a different seat. I saw that this is the border - ruling party on one side, opposition on other. Who is sent to the border? The strongest warrior,” he was quoted by ANI as saying.

“Be it me or any friend of mine, we consulted the 'doctor' and all 125 of us are standing in the House today after 'treatment'... There may be bombardment at this border but we will be the armour and keep everything safe,” he added.
