Sushant Singh Rajput's Dipesh Sawant's lawyer has filed a plea against Sawant being held in custody for more than 24 hours, reported news agency ANI on 6 September. Sawant has also been sent to Narcotics Control Bureau's (NCB) custody till 9 September.
Dipesh Sawant's lawyer said that Dipesh Sawant "was in their (NCB) custody since Sept 4, without his family being informed. He should've been produced before court within 24 hrs. We've filed a plea against him being kept in custody for over 24 hrs. Court has called for reply from NCB."

On Saturday, Dipesh Sawant had been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in the probe into allegations of drug abuse surrounding the actor's death. KPS Malhotra, Deputy director of the NCB was quoted by ANI as saying, "Dipesh Sawant has been arrested by NCB for his role in procuring & handling of drugs. He has been arrested based on statements & digital evidence. He will be produced before court on Sunday, 6 September, at 11 am. Cross-examination of arrested people underway".
With this, the total number of people arrested has risen to eight.
On the other hand, reports claim that Mumbai’s Esplanade Court on Saturday remanded Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda to the custody of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) till 9 September.
Chakraborty and Miranda were arrested by the NCB under various sections of the NDPS Act on Friday after questioning in connection with the drugs probe linked to Sushant's death. Showik is actor Rhea Chakraborty’s brother, while Miranda was the late actor's house caretaker.
A report on Livemint.com says the NCB had sought a seven day custody of Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda. Speaking to the media, advocate Vikas Singh, lawyer of Sushant’s family, said, “The arrests by the NCB prove the fear of the family that there was something big that Mumbai Police wanted to hide. Clearly, there are several angles in this case. The family of Sushant Singh Rajput hopes that more angles will come out.”
