Through Blinded Eyes: A Kashmir Story
The Indian Army continues to use pellets as ‘non-lethal’ weapons to disperse crowds and gatherings in Kashmir.
The Quint’s Susnata Paul illustrates poignant prose written by Qadri Inzamam about growing up in a conflict-ridden Kashmir valley.
P.S. The eyes of 185 people, mostly youngsters and kids, have been damaged by pellets used by the CRPF on protestors. Dozens of these injured have lost their eyesight completely or partially. They inserted a needle in five-year-old Nasir’s left eye and filled his eyes with sand. He was waiting for his father in an alley. But before his father could take him, he was already blinded in his left eye.
The story has been illustrated by Susnata Paul.
