The government has just declared that 256 districts in the country have been affected by drought this year. As a result, the government has put special emphasis on conserving water bodies like wells and ponds.

Yet, Kanpur didn’t bother to reserve its traditional wells, which were supposed to serve as effective water resources during summers. The city administration has urged citizens to take up initiatives to revive these drying resources this summer.

But ignoring the impending calamity, Kanpur is all set to host an IPL match this season. The Quint spoke with citizens of Kanpur about the city’s neglected, drying wells.
