After defeating defending champions Pakistan in a thrilling final, the Indian Hockey team brought home the Asian Champions Trophy after a gap of five years.

However, the win wasn’t just India’s, it was Bhopal’s too.

Twenty-two-year-old Affan Yousuf scored four goals during the 2016 ACT, including the crucial final against Pakistan. Affan hails from Bhopal, a town that has given India hockey legends like Aslam Sher Khan, but failed to nurture a whole batch of children.

The famous Aishbagh hockey stadium in Bhopal was out of use for a while, resulting in a whole of young hockey players missing out, said Affan.
