Jiya Juneja, the seven-year-old girl who was seriously injured in Gurugram when she was hit by a speeding car after she alighted from her school bus on 9 May, succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday.

The driver of the school bus who was on the run has been arrested by Gurugram Police.

The girl’s parents had alleged that the school bus not only changed the route that day without prior intimation, it also dropped her off at a place that was much further from the designated bus stop, where her mother was waiting. With allegedly no attendant present in the bus, the girl attempted crossing the road and was run over.

The third standard student from Ryan International School was being treated in Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital.
