Manmohan and Modi’s Foreign Policies Have Been Seamless: Ex-PM Aide

India has a peculiar set of commentators on foreign policy and national security that believes it is a more loyal minder of the nation’s interest than the elected government of the day. They populated print media columns and waxed eloquent on television during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s 10 years in office, warning him about the evil designs of Uncle Sam. Clearly, they were so effective that after he took the leap of faith and concluded the nuclear deal with the United States in his first term in office, they paralysed him from moving forward in his second term.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is completing Singh’s journey, according to Sanjay Baru, Manmohan Singh’s media advisor.

Even as accolades poured in for her sensitive performance in Waiting, a film in which she acted with stalwart Naseeruddin Shah, Kalki Koechlin appeared on stage in Mumbai as Lady Macbeth in the Rajat Kapoor-directed What Is Done Is Done!

An adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s darkest plays, Macbeth, Kapoor’s play once again has down-and-out clowns producing a play within a play. (His earlier ‘clown productions’ were based on Hamlet, King Lear and As you Like It) After much deliberation, clowns Pedro and Hulio of What Is Done Is Done! decide to make ‘a dark comedy’ with fellow clowns performing the lead roles.
